The Micromax Challenge: Playing the Mid-Range Segment, the Indian Way

Micromax has become the largest Indian handset brand in less than 3 years. Its introducing new Smartphone’s to compete with the much in demand Brands like Samsung, Sony, Nokia and even Motorola Series now. The Micromax Unite A092, Micromax Canvas Duet II EG111 and Micromax Canvas Entice A105 are a result of the blazing fast competition in the Smartphone market right now.

The specifications and price of these Android Smartphone’s have been decided thinking about the target audience who wants more in less. Have a look at the super-rich features of these Smartphone’s and you will get to know what’s special:

Performance:

Leading the three gadgets in terms of Operating system, the Micromax Entice A105 wears the crown with the Latest Android V4.2.2 Kitkat Operating System. The Other two handsets, Micromax Unite A092 and Micromax Canvas Duet II EG111 are loaded with the Android v4.3 Jelly Bean and Android v4.1.2 Jelly Bean Operating system respectively. Talking about the processor, the Entice A105 works on the Quad-core 1.2 GHz, Broadcom BCM23550 processor, the Unite A092 on the Quad-core 1.2 GHz, Qualcomm MSM8212 Snapdragon 200 and the Canvas Duet II functions on the Quad-core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A5, Qualcomm MSM8625Q Snapdragon 200 processor.

In terms of memory, the Micromax Unite A092 is loaded with 8 GB Internal memory and 1GB RAM which takes care that the phone does not lag and performs well with the Quad-core processor specially while while multi-tasking. Whereas, the Canvas Duet II and Entice A105 perform with 4GB Internal Memory and 1GB RAM and 4GB Internal Memory and 512 MB RAM respectively which is quite less when compared to Unite A092. But users who are looking buy the Entice and Canvas Duet II need not be disappointed as the External memory of up to 32GB is well supported by all these Micromax handsets.

Coming to the connectivity part, these Smartphone’s range equally as everything from GPRS, EDGE, 3G, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, USB and GPS are well supported by these handsets. So, you do not have much confusion here!

Design & Display:

The Big screens are so much in trend! Everybody wants it, but only few can own it! This isn’t true! Micromax brings up Mid-range Mobile Phones breaking the idea that Android Smartphone’s are supposed to be high in range and only people who are rich enough can afford it! The Micromax Unite A092 comes with a 4 inch IPS LCD Capacitive Touch screen with 480 x 800 pixels (233 ppi) which is good enough especially at such a low price. Additionally, the Canvas Duet II comes with a 5.3 inches IPS LCD Capacitive Touch screen with a display resolution of 720 ×1280 pixels (277 ppi)  and the Entice A105 sports a 5.0 inch TFT capacitive touch screen with a display resolution of 480 x 800 pixels (187 ppi). You can choose which screen size suits you well!

Camera:

The 5 Megapixels Camera in the Micromax Unite A092 and Entice A105 are pretty clear and display images at a resolution of about 2592х1944 pixels. The Canvas Duet II on the other hand impresses the customers specially those who loving clicking pictures with the 8 Megapixels Camera at a resolution of 3264 x 2448 pixels. Supporting LED Flash and a decent VGA Secondary Camera, these handsets hold an equal standard when compared. Also they are capable of recording videos with quality that is decent enough.

Music player and Video Player:

Talking about the entertaining part, these handsets are loaded with the much needed music requirements. They come packed with FM Radio with recording other than the music player and video player and there is nothing that is competitive about the music features.

Battery:

In terms of battery, the Micromax Unite A092 comes with a 1500 mAh Li-ion battery shedding out up to 140 hours of standby and up to 5 hours and 30 minutes of talktime whereas the Canvas Duet II performs excellently with 2300 mAh Li-Pol battery backup giving Up to 150 hours (2G) of standby and Up to 4 h (2G) talk time. Further, the Entice A105 gives a battery backup of 1900 mAh with up to 150 hours of standby and talk time of up to 5 hours.

Price:

The price are almost the same and a pretty cheap for Smartphone’s with such great features, they just vary a bit. The Micromax Unite A092 is available at Rs. 6,149/-, Micromax Canvas Duet II EG111 at a bit higher range (because of the superior features) Rs. 8,829/- and Micromax Canvas Entice A105 is available at Rs. 6,999/- only.
